My early summer art project was this tiger painting done in acrylic.
My son, who just turned five, is REALLY into tigers. I have no idea why, but it’s a thing. So we took him to the Atlanta Zoo. We must have walked the entire zoo at least three times so that he could try to get a closer look at the tiger, who was just not interested in moving. After about an hour of checking back, he was finally on the move, and I got a few good photos and my son was a happy camper.
Meanwhile, a juried show for a local art association was approaching. The theme was color and light, and I had no idea what to do. But then I remembered a painter I saw one time do this really cool painting of a rooster, which in my opinion is pretty boring subject material but to each their own. The artist started with a vibrant red panel and when he was done, that rooster just popped off the page.
So I decided to try that in this tiger painting. I am very happy with how it turned out. It was a bit rushed and I know I can do better, but it was a good exercise.
